The
state of Goa is situated on the Western Coast of the Indian Peninsular
region and is popularly known as the Konkan coast. The Terekhol River in the
North, Karnataka in the south, the Western Ghats in the east, and the
Arabian Sea in the West separate it from Maharashtra. Goa is located between
Latitudes 15°48'00" North to 14°53'54" North and
Longitudes 74° 20'13" East to 73° 40'33" East.Panaji, the capital city is located at a distance of 592 kilometers from Bangalore (Karnataka) and 593 kilometers from Mumbai (Maharashtra). Goa is divided into two major administrative districts- North Goa and South Goa. Goa is famous for its beaches due to its location on the Western Coast and has some marvelous and spell binding beaches that attract a large number of tourist from all over the world all through the year.
The climate of Goa is temperate and is enjoyable throughout the year. Extremities of temperature do not exist in this paradise and the weather is pleasant and sunny. Since it lies in the coastal area, Goa experiences maritime climate all through the year. Almost one third of the state is covered by forests, which have been turned into wildlife sanctuaries. Goa has a rich variety of flora and fauna, which has been beautifully preserved.
