traveling to Goa, try to avoid carrying large amounts of cash with yourself.
The most tried and tested way is to carry Traveler's cheques. They are
easily redeemable in numerous locations at "Money Exchange Bureaus"
in Goa. Credit cards are also suitable these days, the most popular being
MasterCard and Visa and are accepted at most of the hotels and resorts in
Goa. One can withdraw cash against these cards at the following banks,

AMEX cards are not easily accepted though. It is sensible to exchange your traveler's cheques or cash currency at official and authorized Money Exchange Centers in Goa. However, some of them do charge an exorbitant rate of commission. Do not flash rolls of money around when traveling.
