Safety Precautions for Traveling in Goa
To make your traveling hassle free and enjoyable at the
same time, there are some safety guidelines that should be followed in order
to make sure that you don't fall in trouble unnecessarily. Here are some
useful tips that will help you to organize and plan your trip keeping
troubles to the minimum.
- Keep all sorts of valuables and important papers (jewelry, passports,
return tickets, etc) in your hotel's safe deposit box. Do not leave them
unattended in your room. Avoid carrying large amounts of cash.
Substitute it with travelers' cheques and credit cards. Keep good
amounts of change though.
- Do not keep your wallet/purse in your rear pocket. Keep it inside
your jacket pocket or side pocket of your trouser.
- In case you have scheduled a meeting with a potential client or any
other individual, it is better to meet in a public place, like a
well-known hotel or restaurant.
- Do not use poorly lit streets and narrow alleys. Try and avoid
traveling alone at night.
- Do not swim in prohibited places on the beaches and stay near the
shore. Do not go for swimming after you have had an alcoholic drink.
- Make an itinerary of important places to visit and allot time for
each place. Ask the hotel staff to arrange for a taxi or a tourist bus
for you to travel around. It is better to travel with other tourists of
your hotel to avoid getting lost.
